Scope of Position

The M365 Enterprise Architect, as a member of IT Operations, is responsible for the hands-on architecture, analyzation, and implementation of products in the Microsoft 365 suiteThis environment includes Microsoft Exchange Collaboration, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive with expert knowledge in identity management, directory services, Azure AD, O365 Compliance, and PowerShellThe M365 team must ensure that this critical infrastructure is secure, highly available, meets the performance needs of the organization, is globally aligned with parent company, and complies with all regulatory guidelines by which EDF is governed. The M365 Enterprise Architect will provide architectural guidance, define the strategic vision, and tactical coordination; in addition to providing mentorship, professional development, and meaningful feedback to team members

Responsibilities

             Systems/Applications Integration: 

  • Microsoft 365 Architect to globally align closely with Operations, Security, and Apps teams around the world 
  • Define vision around global alignment of collaboration tools 
  • Responsible for the design of proper systems architecture to achieve EDF’s business strategy goals 
  • Utilize Azure Automation to achieve efficiency goals and team maturity 
  • Provide strategic vision to analyze and evaluate new technologies and solutions to enable the business 
  • Strategic coordination with the team to develop and maintain proper processes, procedures, and system documentation according to industry best practices and regulatory requirements 
  • Coordinate with the EDF compliance team to align IT processes with all regulatory requirements 
  • Strategic planning to analyze and ensure proper monitoring solutions are in place that will notify and alert the teams of potentially issues that could impact the availability and functionality of critical systems and applications 
  • Strong customer relationship skills and willingness to lead customers through successful challenging projects which includes estimating, scoping, and writing effective statements of work that clearly set expectations and limit risk 
  • Architect and facilitate the deployment of application integration and 3rd party interaction with M365 to support business needs  

             Leadership/Mentorship & Team Orchestration: 

  • Provide mentorship for the systems integration team of engineers, technicians and administrative personnel  
  • Provide governance and guidance while improving process maturity to enhance the current foundation  
  • Provide guidance to ensure systems are sufficiently upgraded, secured and patched to minimize exposure to vulnerabilities and malicious activity 
  • Coordinate and participate in planned maintenance activities to ensure systems are properly implemented and maintained according to best practices with as little impact to the business as possible Develop and maintain proper processes, procedures, and system documentation according to industry best practices and regulatory requirements 
  • Work closely with EDF compliance team to align IT processes with all security and regulatory requirements 

Infrastructure Services and Oversight: 

  • Have a thorough understanding of and assist in the architecture planning of network infrastructure, design, and datacenter communications for all EDF locations  
  • Design and implement secure application delivery methods across multi-cloud 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Arts Degree 
  • Requires a minimum of 15 years in the Information Technology Field with 10 years of experience in cloud designing, implementing, administering, and supporting; including a specialty in the enterprise level M365 environment.  
  • Requires MCSE Certification in Messaging 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

This role requires expert level knowledge of following: 

  • Microsoft 365 EnvironmentIncluding Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive 
  • Microsoft Windows Server operating system 
  • Microsoft Active Directory, AD Group Policy, AD Federation/Integration 
  • SSL certificate management 
  • Understanding of disaster recovery principals 
  • Proven ability to implement security and compliance programs within Cloud envrionments 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document efforts and processes consistently and to industry standards.  

 

This role requires a strong working knowledge of the following: 

  • Networking concepts (i.e. VLANs and VLAN tagging, IP subnetting, IP routing, etc.) 
  • Encryption technologies (i.e. SSL, TLS, VPNs, etc.) 
  • Capacity and resource planning capabilities and knowledge of associated relevant tools 
  • Strong incident management skills. 
  • Regulatory compliance experience   
  • Exceptional work ethic and time management skills 
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service 
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time, and on short notice 
  • On call after hours is necessary for problem resolution, and project management/installations 

 

Working Conditions:  

Working remote is an option with periodic visits to the San Diego Corporate OfficeOtherwise, most of the time is spent in the office and computer room environments, utilizing computers, servers, peripheral equipment, phones, and general office equipment. Up to 20% of the time may be spent installing servers, blades, chassis, cables, power supplies, and on general data center maintenance. Up to 20% of the time may be spent traveling to other EDF Renewable Energy locations located in the US, Canada and Mexico for the purpose of project related work.  Participation in 24x7 on call duties may be required as well as involvement in escalated after hours issues and planned maintenance activitiesIncident management of outages is required until resolution.  On call duties are handled on a rotational basis. 

 

This role’s annual base salary range is between $115,000 and $192,000.
