Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. This position is responsible for the overall management of the Operations staff within their assigned portion of the region. This position will provide strong leadership, ensuring the execution and continued development of the region’s capabilities, processes, systems, and reporting to ensure excellent service support on all EDF Renewables’ operations efforts within their regional responsibilities. This position shall act as a coach and mentor to the site managers that report to them while supporting the Asset Managers leading the commercial and technical decision-making for the assets and the site personnel. With respect to Site Managers, this position shall enable them to perform to EDFR’s performance standards while coordinating the what and how of their performance with the Regional Senior Director (matrixed reporting).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the staff charged with the management, operation, and maintenance, of renewable generating assets. Note that this is a matrixed management role – meaning that employees will report directly into this role for guidance on how to perform their responsibilities but the same employees will dotted line report into the applicable Asset Manager for determination of what work to perform and when for the benefit of the assets.
  • Coordinate the activities of the regional operations staff with the applicable Asset Manager and the Regional Senior Director to ensure delivery of desired technical and commercial business outcomes from the assets.
  • Assist site personnel with the coordination of services from the centralized support services groups including but not limited to OCC, SIG, Supply Chain, Major Component, HV/BOP, etc.
  • Demonstrate leadership that leads to a strong culture of safety & quality.
  • Supervise, develop, and grow direct reports through relevant hiring and ongoing training.
  • Evaluate the performance of each direct report at least annually with written performance evaluations, including compensation change recommendations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the employee development program and work with subject matter experts to improve the effectiveness of the employee development program.
  • Understand field operations performance including performance to goals through direct observation and communication
  • Work with peers and the regional continuous improvement leads and the centralized continuous improvement function to continually improve field operations performance.
  • Drive and share lessons learned within the region while supporting a continuous improvement approach toward the business.
  • Assist in the development and deployment of operational goals with clear metrics.
  • Perform safety and quality walks when visiting sites, with attention to the execution of safe work plans that achieve desired business outcomes for the assets.
  • Oversight of the Site Manager preparation of and adherence to the O&M portion of project budgets including coaching on best practices when needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience.

     

  • Experience working with current renewable energy technologies

     

  • Basic understanding of power generation equipment and operational performance metrics.

     

  • Experience using agile, lean six sigma, and traditional project management principles and practices and blending them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment

     

  • Entrepreneurial minded and driven self-starter with extensive experience in an agile/adaptable environment and demonstrated success in influencing stakeholders, leading through ambiguity, and negotiating win-win outcomes

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

 

  • Strong interpersonal skills - capable of building relationships, a good listener with outstanding interpersonal influencing qualities and a natural consultative style; builds positive relationships with others including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building; and demonstrates active listening and practices open, honest and direct communication 
  • Fluent with common industrial operations management tools, techniques, and methods - SAP, SCADA, data management software, ERP or similar 
  • Strong passion for helping the company succeed and doing what it takes to develop successful employees; has the courage to talk straight and ask tough questions; open to and accepts of change, adapting to our evolving business; proactively raises challenges and identifies solutions 
  • Supports and enthusiastically participates in CI efforts to reduce costs, improve service, and increase efficiency  
  • Proficient in MS office suite 

 

Physical Requirements:

  

  • Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from face for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time. 
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and telephone. 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time. 
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds. 

 

Working Conditions:  

50-60% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 40-50% of time is spent outside of the office visiting sites and attending meetings.   

 

Supervision of Others: 

This position will manage a team of approximately 10 people

 

This role’s annual base salary range is between $102,500 and $171,000.
