Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. We deliver grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distribution-scale power: solar and storage; asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial expertise to maximize the performance of generating projects, and onsite solutions, through the Company’s PowerFlex affiliate, offering a full suite of onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers: solar, storage, EV charging, energy management systems, and microgrids.

 

The successful candidate will have solid track record in formation of contracts (e.g., master service  agreements, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements), primarily using corporate approved templates; coordinate contract document execution, reviewing contract documents and contract language, coordinating often with engineering/construction disciplines, environmental consultants, information technology companies, O&M companies and other contractors/subcontractors. The candidate will cultivate and build relationships with the Business units to clearly and cooperatively define scopes of work, payment methods, and scheduling and other job requirements. Candidate will assist the Legal Department in reviewing and addressing counterparty contract comments and requested changes. In addition, the candidate will assist the Legal Department with typical paralegal-related duties associated with litigation and corporate governance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of contract agreements using corporate approved templates and counterparty contracts within contract lifecycle management software (Malbek);  
  • Ensure legal and commercial reviews are completed and necessary comments are addressed in contract documents;  
  • Assist in drafting contract modifications, amendments and scopes of work; 
  • Facilitate legal discussions on contract issues; escalate and resolve where appropriate; 
  • Coordinate with EDF Renewables Insurance Risk Management Department on contract insurance requirements; 
  • Advise peers and management of contractual rights and obligations and, as needed, provide interpretation of terms and conditions; 
  • Provide direct contract support, such as review and approval of contractual documents to ensure protection of company's contractual/risk posture, satisfaction of contractual requirements and adherence to company policies; 
  • Manage the privacy and confidentiality aspects of the contract process from inception to conclusion.; 
  • Support Legal Department in claims and litigation with outside counsel; 
  • Provide technical guidance to Business unit personnel and ensure proficiency and timeliness of contract administration; 
  • Collaborate with Business unit contract managers, project managers and program managers to create, negotiate and finalize contractual documents, including Master Service Agreements, Scopes of Work, Change Orders, and Amendments; 
  • Other responsibilities associated with this position:

  • provide training support for new contract administrators/managers 
  • intervene and resolve problems, delays and evaluate concerns 
  • create strategies to reach contract objectives and build network 
  • support process improvements to Malbek to enhance department function and performance 
  • provide coaching to less experienced staff and others, and review their work to ensure output is of quality and in accordance with EDF Renewables’ business objectives and policies. 

 

Working Conditions: 

100% of the time is spent in a normal office environment, utilizing computers, including various Microsoft programs and other office equipment. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience as a paralegal or contract administrator providing contract support. 
  • Paralegal certificate a plus; Bachelor's in Business Administration or related discipline desirable. 
  • Experience working with computers, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite products, SAP (or other ERP), and Malbek (or other CLM). 
  • Capable of interpreting contracts and draft agreements with attention to detail and rigor; makes appropriate decisions based on assessment, experience and sound judgment. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong communication, inter-personal, and computer skills are essential; excellent command of spoken and written English. 
  • Respectful of others and able to easily gain trust and support; able to quickly find common ground and solve problems; experience dealing successfully with peers, subordinates, management, and unaffiliated third parties. 
  • Is autonomous in planning and executing work; excellent organizational skills; pay particular attention to the quality of work performed, able to recognize errors and make the necessary corrections. 
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, and a strong work ethic focused on providing excellent customer service; focused on results as well as the needs of the internal customer. 
  • Able to adapt to change, to take action in the absence of all information and is not distraught when facing unexpected situations. 

 

This role’s annual base salary range is between $102,500 and $150,000.
