Scope of Position

This position, under specific direction from the Site Supervisor, maintains Balance of Plant, including but not limited to preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.

 

Located in Snyder, TX - Surrounding areas include: Sweetwater, Lubbock, and Abilene. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Work safely under all circumstances and seek guidance for any work for which they are unfamiliar or do not feel competent to perform safely
  • Operate and care for company property and equipment in an efficient and safe manner
  • Operate Medium and High Voltage breakers and switches
  • Operate a service truck in a safe manner in accordance with EDF policies
  • Respond to site outages outside normal working hours to trouble shoot communications, collection, and or substation issues as they arise
  • Replace components as needed to safely return equipment to operational status
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections on Balance of Plant systems and subsystems. included but limited to, Substation, Met Towers, Site Service Roads, Collection Systems and OM facilities
  • Complete on a daily basis, work orders, timecards and any other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment
  • Turbine climbing, while not a fundamental requirement of the position, may be necessary from time to time
  • All other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor or his/her designee

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:

Stand, climb, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.

The employee is regularly required to lift an or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Ability to climb wind turbines is highly desirable
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
  • Ability to utilize testing equipment to measure voltage and test electrical component
  • Able to operate company vehicles (service or field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license with a good DMV printout
  • Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to

  • Extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc.
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Exposed to High/Low voltage equipment
  • Confined spaces
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Working conditions:

BOP Technicians spend most of their time in the field, excluding safety; supervisor and scheduled training exercises. BOP Technicians work alone and in teams when necessary and are provided a company vehicle (service truck) in which they carry the required tools and parts necessary to perform repairs and/or maintenance on Balance of Plant at their assigned site, but may support other sites as needed.. Generally, BOP Technicians are required to work in extreme weather, be available outside of standard working hours to respond to site either physically or remotely as conditions dictate.

Education and/or Experience

High school or equivalent: or up to one-year related experience or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for the entry level BOP technician, Qualified Electrical Worker(QEW) and fork lift operation if required
  • Able to demonstrate some basic computer knowledge
  • Able to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Pay Grade: $27.00 - $46.00 Hourly
