Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. This position, under general direction of the Site Manager, leads his/her team(s) to perform all aspects of support for the Operations & Maintenance department. The Lead Technician will also assist the site manager with site reports, and other written and verbal communications between the site and the Management Team, customers, vendors, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to perform the duties of a technician.
  • Takes a lead role to assist the Site Manager in the execution of daily work as needed.
  • Help team(s) in execution of work plans to schedules.
  • Assists the Site Manager with creating/reviewing/approving Work Requests, also assist with performing TECO transactions as necessary.
  • Assists the Site manager with accurate inventory management
  • Assists the Site Manager with data collection and summary reports.
  • Help ensure effective communications between field Technicians and the Site Manager.
  • Assists Site Manager with all safety aspects at the site. Also performs periodic Safety Walks in the field and up-tower.
  • Assists the Site Manager with the performance of QC Assessments of work by Technicians up-tower.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist and train field crews trouble-shooting and repairs.
  • Performs scheduled & unscheduled maintenance on assets, including scada communications.
  • Assist field technicians with HV operations.
  • Perform Switching at substations, Substation inspections, substation maintenance activities
  • Research parts and specialty tools.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Lead Technicians spend 85% of their time in the field, sometimes in extreme weather conditions, excluding scheduled training and/or supervisory meetings. 15% of the time is spent in the office environment utilizing computer, phones and general office equipment and supplies for reporting functions and record keeping.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years’ experience working in the wind-energy industry or Solar industry
  • Must have achieved senior technician and qualified electrical worker qualification through EDF.
  • Experience working with current wind and/or solar technologies.
  • Strong computer skills required, including but not limited to creating spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Software Programs and SAP.
  • Ability to follow company QC and Safety procedures.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
  • Ability to work with heights, including climbing up and descending towers of various heights.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of electricity theory & safety.
  • Able to provide proof of a current driver’s license and clean driving record, in order to operate company vehicles (field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways.

Stand, climb, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.

 

The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Able to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.

· Able to work in a mechanical environment. This may have been achieved through formal training, previous work experience as an auto mechanic or the ability to demonstrate that an individual is mechanically inclined.

· Able to operate company vehicles (field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license with a good DMV printout.

· Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment.

 

Special Conditions of Employment:

Physical Weight Limit Restriction

Due to weight restrictions associated with life-saving fall-arrest equipment employees are required to wear while working at heights, maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs. Employee weight subject to review at any time throughout the duration of employment and required annually at a minimum.

· Extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc.

Salary range:  the full salary range for this role is $27.00/hr. to $46.00/hr. The target range for this position is $27.00/hr. - $40.00/hr.  We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.
