Salary Range: The target range for this position is $25 to $50 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Exciting opportunity for graduate level intern with previous experience working in renewable energy.  The Transmission Analystics Intern will assist in performing powerflow analyses for renewable energy assets that are either already operational or for new development assets using powerflow tools like TARA and PSS/E. They will document the generation deliverability procedures of different markets (i.e., CAISO, IESO, SPP, and NYISO).

Responsibilities

  • Review and document deliverability study procedures of RTOs/bilateral markets (i.e., CAISO, IESO, SPP, and NYISO)
  • Assist in developing dashboard for automated transmission capacity analysis tools
  • Perform powerflow/interconnection studies based on various ISO generation interconnection methodologies in planning regions

Qualifications

Undergraduate/graduate students in Electrical Engineering and Power Systems is strongly preferred. Mathematics, Computer Science, or related quantitative disciplines may also be considered. Prior experience running powerflow software and familiarity with ISO generator interconnection processes is a plus.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of power system operation and planning.in renewable energy. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PSSE/TARA, Python, Excel and MS Office Suite. Demonstrated competency in other modeling, statistical analysis, and/or optimization software strongly desired.
  • Strong relationship development skills and the ability to work successfully with peers and other teams across the company.
  • The ability to function in a team environment and demonstrate a strong motivation to succeed in a very fast paced environment.
  • The successful candidate will use various information sources and will know how to procure an assortment of sources of information for analysis, presentations, or use in production simulation modeling and economic analysis.
