Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $105,100 - $175,100 annuellement . The target range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Scope of Job:

*We are also open to candidates with less than 7 years of experience, we will be able to accommodate this as a "Measurement Systems engineer."

EDF power solutions is seeking an exceptional initiative taker and problem-solver to design and manage meteorological measurement systems for wind and solar energy projects. The ideal candidate brings technical know-how related to measurement systems, possesses strong project management capabilities and is passionate about accurately and reliably collecting the data needed to build a sustainable energy future.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Design, procure and commission measurement systems that are essential for collecting data used to effectively design, build and operate wind and solar energy projects. Measurement systems include tall meteorological towers, ground solar assessment stations and wind profiling lidars.
  • Manage 3rd party field contractors for meteorological measurement systems installations and maintenance, including schedule, contract and budget and ensure that the field work is performed according to the highest safety standards.
  • Manage a fleet of measurement systems, remote power supplies and communication equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting of the systems identified as not operating properly.
  • Generate engineering specifications for the procurement and construction of measurement systems on wind and solar generation project. Act as a subject matter expert during the construction of grid-scale power projects for technical review of measurement system design.
  • Manage and lead the contractual wind turbine power curve testing activities according to the IEC 61400-12-1 standard. This includes the pre-construction test planning, design, and installation of testing meteorological towers, the management of the independent test engineer and the verification of reports.
  • Maintain and update measurement systems management platform and database to efficiently communicate fleet status to Asset Optimization Group, Resource Assessment Group, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors and consultants related to meteorological systems and data;
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision of Others: None

Working Conditions85% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 15% of time is spent outside of the office visiting project sites in the United States and Canada, vendors and/or internal customers in addition to attending various conferences and meetings. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline. The eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer is
    required in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in other Science or Technology discipline with related technical experience, or inability to
    register as a professional engineer will be considered for a Measurement Systems Analyst position.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working on complex instrumentation and measurement systems, on conducting contractual power curve testing or on renewable energy projects. Candidates may be considered for an Engineer/Analyst position if less experienced.
  • Experience working with and programming Campbell Scientific or NRG systems data loggers is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience working with IEC 61400-12-1 and/or IEC 61400-50-3 is a plus.
  • Experience in managing contractors on meteorological towers projects or on remote construction site is a plus

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Highly motivated, driven self-starter, with ability to work well with others and be a good teamplayer
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Experience with various Microsoft software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Teams, Visio, Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • For candidates in Canada proficiency in English and French is required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to travel to project sites in North America for 5-7 days at a time and work outside in various weather conditions.
