Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $83,000 - $138,400 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Scope of Job: This position is responsible for managing the South Regional Landowner and Community Relations and Engagement Program for a variety of renewable energy project sites throughout the region. The Community Engagement Manager can also assist with other regions, as needed.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • General collaboration with the team members of the region through attendance at weekly and monthly team meetings to understand project status and priorities, and provide updates on key issues and work assignments
  • Preparing and executing community relations and engagement plans, PR, Local Engagement and/or Social Media Strategy for projects and select initiatives as needed in your region, which can include, but not limited to:
    • Close coordination with the Project Development and project team
    • Initiate, coordinate, plan and execute project landowner events.
    • Represent EDFR at community events and meetings.
    • Coordination of and participating in Key Stakeholder meetings
    • Coordinate external project communication including social media, newsletters, project websites, etc.
    • Monitor media and elevate issues to team as needed.
    • Involvement (as appropriate) in the permitting process in conjunction with the Project Developer
  • Identify, hire, and manage third party vendors to assist with the above identified tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision of Others: 1 direct report

Working Conditions: 60% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 40% of time is spent outside of the office traveling to EDF offices, project sites, and the corporate office, in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.

Fiscal Responsibilities: Overall management of the Community Engagement Budget, Community Donations Budget, Promotions & Printables Budget, and any Strategy and PR Consultant Budgets.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, sociology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of proven success in a Community Engagement Manager or similar role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse communities.
    • Event Planning & Execution: From conception to on-site management.
    • Graphic Design & Layout: Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) a plus.
    • Communications & Marketing: Crafting compelling messages across various channels.
    • Media Relations: Securing positive media coverage and managing public perception.
  • Experience within the renewable energy or a related energy sector highly valued.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse communities (urban, suburban, rural, Indigenous) across different geographies.
  • Experience navigating and assisting with approvals and public engagement requirements for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Track record of successful interaction with elected officials and their staff.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead projects and guide team members.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong presentation skills.
  • Results-Oriented & Proactive: Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (especially PowerPoint) required. Experience with SAP & Salesforce a plus.
  • Public Speaking Expertise: Confidently present information to diverse audiences.
  • In-Depth Knowledge of Renewable Energy:
    • Understand the goals, benefits, and construction/operational aspects of renewable energy projects.
    • Effectively communicate complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Team Player & Independent Contributor: Thrives in a collaborative environment while effectively managing individual responsibilities.

Physical Requirements: Requires ability to handle light duty administrative tasks such as stuffing envelopes, preparing (no more than 20 pounds) boxes for shipping/receiving, logistical meeting set up and support.
