Salary Range:  We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Scope of Job: The Chief Business Officer (CBO) leads our commercial growth and global business operations. As a key member of the executive team, the CBO drives revenue acceleration, executes go-to-market plans, and develops enduring partnerships. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution and is ideal for a commercially driven executive with deep enterprise sales and partnership experience in industrial tech, SaaS, or data infrastructure. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Growth Client Engagement and Expansion (Top Priority) 
    • Owns and executes the company’s revenue strategy across markets and verticals. 
    • Develops and manages scalable enterprise sales models and sales operations. 
    • Establishes pricing, packaging, and value-based commercial models. 
    • Leads executive-level client meetings and cultivates strategic account relationships. 
    • Champions customer success initiatives to expand deployments and retention. 
  • Contracting & Invoicing 
    • Establishes and manages commercial operations including contract negotiation and legal coordination. 
    • Owns the end-to-end invoicing cycle in collaboration with finance and legal teams. 
  • Partnership Management 
    • Builds and manages partnerships across technology vendors, system integrators, and resellers. 
    • Negotiates co-sell agreements and alliance frameworks to enhance reach and pipeline. 
  • CRM & Pipeline Operations 
    • Oversees CRM strategy and implementation to support revenue forecasting, sales performance, and lifecycle management. 
    • Ensures pipeline health and sales process discipline. 
  • Conferences & Industry Visibility 
    • Represents Nexalis at strategic conferences, trade shows, and executive events. 
    • Builds the company’s profile through public speaking, panel engagements, and thought leadership. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Supervision of Others: N/A

Working Conditions: 60% of time is spent in a home office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 40% of time is spent outside of the home office calling on prospects, visiting vendors’ and/or customers’ sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings 

Fiscal Responsibilities: Responsible for managing budget and costs associated with a national sales role: contracting implementation, invoicing, and accounts receivable process. Required to administer the budget for Nexalis commercial activities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in executive roles across enterprise software, industrial SaaS, or energy data platforms. 
  • Proven record of accomplishment growing recurring revenue and building high-performance commercial teams globally. 
  • Expertise in implementing and managing commercial processes and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot). 
  • Demonstrated success in forming and scaling technology and channel partnerships. 
  • A background in industrial verticals (energy, manufacturing) is strongly preferred. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of sales cycle and prospect management and commercial contracting 
  • Effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to relate deep product knowledge to customer needs 
  • Ability to drive negotiations 
  • Ability to represent Nexalis in the broader renewables marketplace. 

Physical Requirements: Field based position including up to 60% domestic and international travel.
