Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $28.08 to $46.83 per hour. The target range for this position is $34.00 to $39.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Scope of the Position: This position, under specific direction from the BOP Site Supervisor/ Senior Operations Manager, maintains Balance of Plant, including but not limited to preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.

 

Required Training: Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.

 

Located in Snyder, TX - Surrounding areas include: Sweetwater, Lubbock, and Abilene. 

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections on Balance of Plant systems and subsystems. This includes and is not limited to; Substation, Met Towers, Site Service Roads, Collection Systems and OM facilities
  • Replaces components as needed to safely return equipment to operational status
  • Completes work orders, timecards and any other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment
  • Operates and care for company property and equipment in an efficient and safe manner
  • Operates Medium and High Voltage breakers and switches
  • Operates a service truck in a safe manner in accordance with EDFps policies
  • Responds to site outages outside normal working hours to trouble shoot communications, collection, and or substation issues as they arise
  • Turbine climbing, while not a fundamental requirement of the position, may be necessary from time to time
  • All other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor or his/her designee

 

Working conditions:

BOP Technicians spend most of their time in the field alone or in a team and may need to work outside of standard hours. This position operates a company vehicle (service truck) to carry the required tools and parts necessary to perform repairs and/or maintenance on Balance of Plant at their assigned site and may support other sites as needed.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to:

  • Extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc.
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Exposed to High/Low voltage equipment
  • Confined spaces
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of safety and technical training program for the entry level BOP technician; Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) and forklift operation if required
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:

Stand, climb, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.

The employee is regularly required to lift an or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Ability to climb wind turbines is highly desirable
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
  • Ability to utilize testing equipment to measure voltage and test electrical component
  • Able to operate company vehicles (service or field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license with a good DMV printout
  • Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment
