Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $83,000 - $138,400 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Scope of Job: The Smart Grid Analyst is responsible for supporting the Power Grid activities of the EDF Innovation Lab and for delivering analysis to our customers. This role leads the research activities within the EDF Innovation Lab and manages the collaboration on various technical topics. The Smart Grid Analyst advises internal clients and uses experience to support the creation of compelling industry visions. Areas include DER integration, grid interconnection rules, use of storage systems for grid applications, microgrids, DERMS, SCADA automation, etc.).


As a key member of the Smart Grid team at the EDF Innovation Lab, this role works with other international centers based in Europe and Asia to leverage expertise within the EDF Group working as part of a great adventure that supports the energy transition toward a safe and zero carbon system.


This role reports directly to the Smart Grid Program Manager and works as part of the EDF Innovation Lab.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Performs Smart Grid surveys on different topics (grid interconnection rules, use of storage systems for grid applications, microgrids, DERMS, SCADA automation, grid planning with large renewable adoption, regulations in power grids, etc.)
  • Provides product and market research and analysis regarding Smart Grids in the US.
  • Works with partners on innovative Smart Grid projects.
  • Identifies potential partners to launch projects in France or to join a concrete project in the US.
  • Develops new smart grid activities and topics – contributes to the definition of the strategy concerning Smart Grid in the EDF Innovation Lab and develops new activities for internal or external clients.
  • Contributes to Smart Grid experiments (microgrid, virtual power plants, storage systems, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision of Others: This role has no direct reports.

Working Conditions: 90% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 10% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in additional to attending various conferences and meetings.

This job is a hybrid position with 3 days a week minimum in the office.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Requires Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering, or Energy related sciences is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience with utilities or companies engaged in the electricity industry; or research in smart grid technologies.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Prior knowledge of electric power systems, data for energy, renewable energies, and energy storage
  • Validated influence skills and demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and entrepreneurial
  • Demonstrated strength in data analytics and synthesis of information.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and deliver under deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to take on projects to support the team.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Effective writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Suite of applications and relevant data manipulation software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interests in both the technical and business aspects of energy, enabling Smart Grid technologies.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit or stand at computer for a reasonable length of time typing and reading. Regularly required to walk or stand.
