Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $18.00 to $34.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

Scope of Job:

This internship position will help the Distribution Scale Power team to focus on site development civil designs as it pertains to SWPPP measures, grading/earthworks, structural plans, and geotechnical studies. The Civil Engineer Intern will assist the Engineering Team with generation of foundation designs, interpretation of geotechnical reports, and recommendations as it pertains to stormwater management and erosion control.

Learning Plan:

The Civil Engineer Intern must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in communicating complex technical topics with nontechnical audiences. The Civil Engineer Intern will be responsible for clear communication and effective interactions both within the Company and externally with Company consultants, contractors, clients, and partners.

Internship Duration: 12 weeks beginning May 2026. This position is Hybrid in Denver Colorado at a co-working space 3 days a week, and remote 2 days per week. Occasional travel to project site.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering deliverables, including plan and elevation drawings and schematics for commercial and utility solar and BESS projects.
  • Develop designs in consideration of available equipment, existing site conditions, and OSHA safety requirements for construction and system operation, with the primary focus on site conditions and racking systems.
  • Develop the capability to conduct site assessments, review soil borings and environmental assessments, and incorporate into conceptual design deliverables in support of the EPC department and business.
  • Communicate with Project Managers about scheduling and permitting for project execution.
  • Create, organize, and maintain documents associated with projects’ basis of design throughout the project life cycle; assist the project team in identifying key project design risks and enabling effective decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Goals of Internship: The Civil Engineer Intern will support EDFps-DSP's on staff Civil Engineer with grading designs, civil estimating, structural designs, and stormwater management designs.

 

Skills to Acquire: The Civil Engineer Intern will become proficient with integration of GPS (elevation) data within AutoCAD Civil 3D and creating grading models within AutoCAD Civil 3D. The Civil Engineer Intern will become proficient at generating and quantifying civil design features such as grading, foundation designs, and stormwater management structures.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • At minimum, the candidate must be in their 3rd year or later of an undergraduate level Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering program. The program must be ABET Certified.
  • Graduate level students in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Relevant design experience, including experience in designing foundations and structures for construction; PV design preferred.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship (F-1 Visa, OPT, CPT, etc.) is not and will not be available for this position.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of:
  • Building Codes
  • Project Management experience
  • Computer-based drafting experience (AutoCAD)
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to work from an office environment.

 

Working Conditions:

100% of the time is spent in an office environment utilizing computers, phones, and general office equipment. This is a (hybrid) office-based position with significant time on the computer. Candidate is required to have a reliable high-speed internet connection and must have a quiet space to participate in Microsoft Teams meetings and conduct phone calls. Shared workspace will be provided by EDFps-DSP.
