Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $30.00 to $34.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.
Scope of Job: The Civil Engineer Intern is an entry level position for a graduate level Engineering student. The Civil Engineer Intern will be a contributing member of the Engineering Dpt. with a focus on site development civil designs as it pertains to SWPPP measures, grading/earthworks, structural plans, and geotechnical studies. The Civil Engineer Intern will assist the Engineering Team with generation of foundation designs, interpretation of geotechnical reports, and recommendations as it pertains to stormwater management and erosion control. The Civil Engineer Intern must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in communicating complex technical topics with nontechnical audiences. The Civil Engineer Intern will be responsible for clear communication and effective interactions both within the Company and externally with Company consultants, contractors, clients, and partners.
Internship Duration: 12 weeks beginning May 2026. Location in Denver Colorado preferred.
Responsibilities:
Goals of Internship: The Civil Engineer Intern will support EDFps-DSP's on staff Civil Engineer with grading designs, civil estimating, structural designs, and stormwater management designs, especially as it pertains to on site-work in Millwood, WV. These responsibilities will also be applicable to projects located elsewhere.
Skills to Acquire: The Civil Engineer Intern will become proficient at operating Trimble GPS Equipment and integration of GPS (elevation) data within AutoCAD Civil 3D. The Civil Engineer Intern will become proficient at generating and quantifying civil design features such as grading, foundation designs, and stormwater management structures.
Working Conditions: This position is based at an active construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors with varying weather conditions and terrain. Approximately 60% of work time will be spent outside on the project site. Approximately 40% of work time will be spent in the project trailer/office environment utilizing computers and software/programs. Applicant must be comfortable working outdoors and with construction personnel. Applicant is expected to conduct themselves safely and professionally on the job site.
