Salary Range: 

 

Project Finance Analyst: The full pay range for this role is $84,700 to $141,100 annually, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $101,610 to $120,00 annually.

 

Senior Project Finance Analyst: The full pay range for this role is $107,200 to $178,600 annually, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $128,00 to $136,000 annually. 

 

We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

 

Project Finance Analyst Scope of Job:

The Project Finance Analyst focuses on financial modeling, data analysis, and due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and project financing transactions. Key responsibilities include scrutinizing proforma models, financial structuring, running sensitivities, managing data rooms, providing transaction support, conducting market research, and preparing Confidential Information Memorandums and presentations.

 

Senior Project Finance Analyst Scope of Job:

The Sr. Analyst, Project Finance focuses on financial modeling, data analysis, and due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and project financing transactions. Key responsibilities include scrutinizing proforma models, financial structuring, running sensitivities, managing data rooms, providing transaction support, conducting market research, and preparing Confidential Information Memorandums and presentations. Additionally, the Sr. Analyst applies their added years of experience in enhancing the efficiency of financing transactions, and plays a key role in training new analysts for their role in the Project Finance role.

 

This position will be Hybrid, a minimum of three days per week in office at either the San Diego (Rancho Bernardo HQ) or Toronto, Canada office. 

Responsibilities

Project Finance Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Project Finance 
    • Transaction Process Management:
      • Supports cross-functional transaction teams (Development, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Procurement) to ensure efficient and timely execution of M&A and project finance transactions. Assists in structuring term sheets and supporting MIPA/PSA negotiations, as well as financing agreements.
    • Due Diligence Management:
      • Assists the entire due diligence process for potential project finance transactions, covering financial, developmental and operational, legal, technological, and other relevant areas.
    • Financial Analysis:
      • Supports financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and risk analysis for Project Finance transactions.
    • Financing Support:
      • Assists in structuring, negotiating, and executing debt and tax equity financing arrangements with lenders and investors, supporting credit approvals and closing processes.
  • Strategic Support 
    • Market Origination and Strategic Assessment:
      • Identifies and researches project finance opportunities across solar, wind, and storage. Supports the development of the team’s financing strategy through proactive engagement with industry contacts.
    • Market Intelligence and Competitive Benchmarking:
      • Monitors industry trends, regulatory developments, and Project Financing activity to inform strategic positioning and provide insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Internal Process Management:
    • Internal Stakeholder Coordination and Approvals -
      • Assists Project finance memos and executive presentations to obtain approvals from internal Investment Committees and Executive leadership.
    • Supports handover of Project Financed projects or portfolios to internal teams, including knowledge transfer, commercial obligations, and documentation.
  • Digital Tools, Process Improvement, and other duties as assigned: 
    • Helps optimize M&A and Project Finance tracking systems, templates, dashboards, and databases to increase team efficiency and transparency.

Working Conditions:

70% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers, frequent use of MS Excel, Power Point, various databases, telephones, and general office equipment. 10-20% of the time is spent in the field; meeting with appropriate financial representatives and others directly involved in projects that EDF power solution is operating and servicing. 5-10% of their time is spent at conferences, seminars, and other industry-related events.

  • Project Finance:
    • Transaction Process Management:

    • Financial Analysis:
      • supports financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and risk analysis for Project Finance transactions.
    • Financing Support:
      • Assists in structuring, negotiating, and executing debt and tax equity financing arrangements with lenders and investors, supporting credit approvals and closing processes.
    • Applies broader experience with financing transactions to enhance transaction efficiency.
    • Assists in on-boarding and training of new Analysts in their role and responsibilities as part of the Project Finance team.
  • Strategic Support:

      • Supports project finance opportunities across solar, wind, and storage projects. Helps with the development of the team’s financing strategy through proactive engagement with industry contacts.

Project Finance Analyst Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or similar required; Master’s degree preferred.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • 1 year of professional industry experience required.
  • 1 year of experience preferred in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or transaction/finance.
  • Knowledge of debt structures, tax benefit monetization and partnership taxation is a plus.
  • Strong quantitative and research background.
  • Advanced Excel user, knowledge of other database software a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Experience in Python or VBA is a plus.
  • Experience in EIA, ABB, Ventyx, SNL, SEIA / AWEA databases.
  • Experience in presentation software such as Tableau and dashboard development.
  • Demonstrated capacity for analytical thinking and presentation development.
  • Ability to work well independently and build relationships with other departments and segments to accomplish objectives.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

This role is primarily sedentary, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. It involves frequent use of office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Additionally, the position may require the ability to carry a laptop or briefcase weighing up to 10 pounds during occasional travel.
