Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $107,200 to $178,600 annually, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $128,610 to $150,000 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

 

Scope of Job

The M&A Sr. Analyst will focus on financial modeling, data analysis, and due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and project financing transactions. Key responsibilities include scrutinizing proforma models, financial structuring, running sensitivities, managing data rooms, providing transaction support, conducting market research, and preparing pitch books and presentations. This role requires mastery of Excel, proficiency in PowerPoint, strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective time management, and clear communication skills.

 

This position is Hybrid in San Diego (Rancho Bernardo). Minimum of three days a week in-office.

Responsibilities

M&A and Project Finance

  • Transaction Process Management: Support cross-functional transaction teams (Development, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Procurement) to ensure efficient and timely execution of M&A and project finance transactions. Assist in structuring term sheets and supporting MIPA/PSA negotiations, as well as financing agreements.
  • Due Diligence Management: Assist the entire due diligence process for potential target deals, covering financial, developmental and operational, legal, technological, and other relevant areas.
  • Financial Analysis: support financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and risk analysis for acquisition and divestiture transactions.
  • Financing Support: Assist in structuring, negotiating, and executing debt and tax equity financing arrangements with lenders and investors, supporting credit approvals and closing processes.

 

Strategic Support

  • Market Origination and Strategic Assessment: Identify and research project and platform acquisition opportunities across solar, wind, and storage.
  • Support pipeline development through proactive engagement with developers and industry contacts.
  • Market Intelligence and Competitive Benchmarking 
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and M&A activity to inform strategic positioning and provide insights to internal stakeholders.

Internal Process Management     

  • Internal Stakeholder Coordination and Approvals - Prepares and assists investment memos and executive presentations to obtain approvals from internal Investment Committees and Executive leadership.

  • Supports handover of acquired projects or portfolios to internal teams, including knowledge transfer, commercial obligations, and documentation.

Digital Tools, Process Improvement

  • Helps optimize M&A and Project Finance tracking systems, templates, dashboards, and databases to increase team efficiency and decision-making transparency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Working Conditions:

80-90% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers, frequent use of MS Excel, Power Point, various data bases, telephones, and general office equipment. 10-20% of the time is spent in the field; meeting with appropriate financial representatives and others directly involved in projects that EDF power solution is operating and servicing. 5-10% of their time is spent at conferences, seminars, and other industry-related events.

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or similar required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • 2 years of professional industry experience required.
  • Min. 1 year of experience preferred in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or transaction/finance.
  • Strong quantitative and research background.
  • Advanced Excel user, knowledge of other database software a plus.
  • Experience in Python or R is a plus.
  • Experience in EIA, ABB, Ventyx, SNL, SEIA / AWEA databases.
  • Experience in presentation software such as Tableau and dashboard development.
  • Demonstrated capacity for analytical thinking and presentation development.
  • Ability to work well independently and build relationships with other departments and segments to accomplish objectives.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong quantitative and research background.
  • Strong knowledge of valuation concepts and DCF analysis
  • Tax benefit monetization, partnership taxation and debt experience or knowledge
  • Advanced Excel user; knowledge of other database software a plus
  • VBA and knowledge of other database software a plus
  • Demonstrated capacity for analytical thinking and presentation development
  • Ability to work well independently and build relationships with other departments and segments to accomplish objectives
  • Proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus
