Salary Range:

  • The full pay range for the Manager level is $120,800 -  $201,300 annually.
  • The full pay range for the Sr. Manager level  is $135,600 - $226,100 annually.
  • We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

 Scope of Job:

The Transmission Powerflow Manager/Sr Manager  is responsible for performing critical powerflow analyses for the development and operation of renewable energy assets. Utilizing advanced powerflow tools (TARA, PSSE, PowerWorld, etc.), these roles support EDF Power Solutions’ strategic goals across various technologies, including solar, onshore/offshore wind, storage, and hydrogen.

Core Analysis 

Perform powerflow analyses for renewable assets across priority regions. 

 

Lead powerflow activities for EDF power solutions 

Perform project-specific powerflow analyses across all North America regions 

Conduct area-wide screening and identify transmission capacity for high-quality development locations. 

Study Types 

Conduct deliverability studies, Quarterly Operating Limit (QOL) studies, and contingency analyses. 

Conduct in-depth power system studies 

Manage complex interconnection studies replicating ISO procedures (CAISO, MISO, PJM, SPP, etc.). 

Review interconnection study results and identify risks and opportunities related to network upgrade cost exposure through the rest of the interconnection process 

Technical Support 

Assist Business Development with short-circuit, voltage, and thermal technical studies. 

Support Business Development with strategic technical studies to identify high quality locations, including via short-circuit, voltage, and thermal technical studies. 

Identify withdrawal limits at specific locations to support data center and other load-related initiatives. 

Automation 

Develop powerflow automation and tools for screening.  

 
Use of Python or other scripting languages to automate modeling and streamline large-scale data analysis. 

 

Drive the strategy for automation and research within/outside the Transmission team.

Supervision 

0 Direct Reports. Individual contributor role. Coordinate with external consultants as necessary. 

Up to 1 Direct Report. Manage interns/analysts and coordinate with external consultants. 

Reporting Line 

Reports to the VP of Transmission & Interconnection 

Reports directly to the VP of Transmission & Interconnection. 

 

Working Conditions:

Approximately 95% of the time is spent in the office environment utilizing computers (frequent use of TARA, PowerWorld, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and other software), statistical and optimization software, and general office equipment. Approximately 5% of the time is spent in the field meeting with regional developers, asset managers or attending conferences, or meeting with vendors and suppliers as appropriate.

 

Fiscal Responsibilities:

The employee must work within the budget constraints as authorized by the Executive Team while successfully following all policies and procedures related to employees’ fiscal responsibilities in doing the day-to-day job.

 

Qualifications

Education 

  • Both Levels: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline. 

 

Work Experience 

  • Manager: Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience required. 8+ years would be preferred. 
  • Sr. Manager: Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience. 10+ years preferred. 
  • Both Levels: Prior experience running powerflow software and familiarity with ISO generator interconnection processes is strongly preferred. 

 

Technical Skills (Required for Both) 

  • Software: Demonstrated proficiency with TARA, PowerWorld, or similar powerflow tools. 
  • Programming: Proficiency with Python automation, Excel, and MS Office Suite. 
  • Market Knowledge: Working knowledge of MISO, PJM, SPP, CAISO, and/or ERCOT markets. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Relationship Management: Strong ability to collaborate successfully with peers, regional developers, and asset managers. 
  • Communication: Ability to interact comfortably with senior levels of management and present complex analytical data effectively. 
  • Adaptability: Proven agility to function in a fast-paced environment and manage frequently changing queue cycles. 
  • Analytical Rigor: Skill in procuring and using various information sources for production simulation modeling and economic analysis. 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Office/Field: Approximately 85–95% of time is spent in an office environment utilizing specialized software. 5–15% of time may be spent in the field meeting with regional developers or attending industry conferences. 
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Must work within budget constraints as authorized by the Executive Team while following all corporate policies and procedures.
