Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $107,200 - $178,600annually, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $135,000 - $155,000 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.
Scope of Job:
The Senior Substation Engineer is responsible for leading all aspects of substation across the full portfolio of EDFps renewable projects in North America, ensuring that substation designs meet company requirements, utility standards, and applicable codes.
Work Mode: Hybrid, based in San Diego, CA. 3 days on-site.

Working Conditions:
85% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment.
Approximately 15% of the time is spent in the field nationally and internationally, visiting potential and existing projects, recognizing and assessing the sites, and meeting with project team members.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in substation design.
Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly preferred.
Substation Design: Deep understanding of substation and transmission line equipment, design principles, and the full project lifecycle (from preliminary design to "as-built" packages).
Codes & Standards: Strong command of industry engineering codes and practices to ensure safe, cost-effective, and reliable designs.
Software: Proficient with electrical engineering design software such as ETAP, ASPEN, and PSCAD.
Problem Solving: Capable of independently diagnosing and resolving complex engineering challenges.
Teamwork & Mentorship: Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional project tasks.
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational habits.
Process Improvement: Ability to support and drive continuous workflow improvements.
Willingness and ability to travel (3–5 days at a time) for site visits, technical team coordination, conferences, or partner meetings.
